Very Sad news indeed of the death of Fr. Lalonde. I remember him when he came to Serenje in 2004 to share with us his experience. That time I was doing “candidate course”. MAY HIS SOUL REST IN THE PEACE OF CHRIST.

I met Father Léopold Lalonde in Kasama during my spiritual year. I remember his kindness and his genorisity, especially towards sick people at Kasama hospital. I thank God for his life.

I thank God for the gift of life of Fr. Lalonde, especially in my life. Death, I believe, is not the end but the promotion to eternal life. Father you have just been promoted! Fr. Lalonde (Bashikulu, I will always remember your devotion to Mary Mother of God, every time I came and you picked me to serve Mass up there at Kasama general hospital. You taught me how to pray especially the rosary. I will always confess that its you who taught me how to wear the rosary and have heart for the sick and visit the sick. I never knew where and how start visiting the sick but you did. The other thing I will always remember is the first time as a boy I witnessed someone dying in my and your presence and you told me to be strong and start praying! You have always been my mentor. You knew bemba proverbs like someone from the land if it was mambwe caisha nomwana! Rest in peace Father Lalonde.

Memories of you are still vivid to me. It you who sent me to Lubushi Minor Seminary. I learnt poultry farming and bee keeping from you. You had sense of humour. As an altar boy you taught me the importance of punctuality and prayer.
Isoka parish history will not be complete minus you.
    Rest in peace.
