The Holy Father appointed Missionary of Africa priest Fr. Placide Lubamba Ndjibu, 54, as bishop of Kasongo, Democratic Republic of Congo.<\/span><\/em><\/address>\n
The diocese has a population of some 1.7 million, with 570,000 Catholics. They are served by 59 priests and 21 religious.<\/span><\/em><\/address>\n
Placide Lubamba Ndjibu\u00a0was born in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo in 1959, and was ordained a priest in 1991.<\/span><\/em><\/address>\n
He completed his studies in theology at the Catholic Institute of Tolosa, France, and studied journalism and social communications at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. He has served in a number of pastoral roles, including priest of the Sacred Heart parish in Manzeze, Tanzania, editor of the KARIBU bulletin in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo, and chaplain of the Wima High School and the Saio military camp, Bukavu, and priest of the St. Bernadette parish in Lubumbashi.<\/span><\/em><\/address>\n
Since 2010 he is the provincial of the White Fathers for Central Africa (Burundi, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo).<\/span><\/em><\/address>\n

En R\u00e9publique d\u00e9mocratique du Congo (RDC), le pape Fran\u00e7ois a nomm\u00e9 \u00e9v\u00eaque de Kasongo Mgr Placide Lubamba Ndjibu, qui est Missionnaire d\u2019Afrique (P\u00e8res Blancs), et qui \u00e9tait jusqu\u2019ici sup\u00e9rieur provincial de sa congr\u00e9gation pour le Burundi, la RDC et le Rwanda.<\/span><\/em><\/address>\n
Mgr Lubamba Ndjibu, est \u00e2g\u00e9 de 54 ans. Il est n\u00e9 dans le dioc\u00e8se de Lubumbashi, et il a fait ses \u00e9tudes au grand s\u00e9minaire de Bukavu, puis son noviciat en Allemagne, \u00e0 Fribourg (1985-1986). Il a compl\u00e9t\u00e9 son exp\u00e9rience pastorale dans le dioc\u00e8se de\u00a0Nouna-D\u00e9dougou (Burkina Faso, 1986-1988) avant d\u2019achever sa th\u00e9ologie \u00e0 l\u2019Institut catholique de Toulouse (France, 1988-1991). Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 ordonn\u00e9 pr\u00eatre en 1991.<\/span><\/em><\/address>\n
Il a ensuite exerc\u00e9 son minist\u00e8re en paroisse \u00e0 Bobo-Dioulasso (Burkina Faso), avant de faire des \u00e9tudes en communication et journalisme \u00e0 Fribourg (1994-1996) et de travailler \u00e0 la revue des P\u00e8re Blancs \u00ab\u00a0Vivant Univers\u00a0\u00bb (Belgique, 1996-1998).<\/span><\/em><\/address>\n
Il a repris un service pastoral en paroisse en Tanzanie (1998-2002), avant de devenir r\u00e9dacteur du bulletin \u00ab\u00a0Karibu\u00a0\u00bb, \u00e0 Bukavu, tout en \u00e9tant aum\u00f4nier de lyc\u00e9e. Il a ensuite \u00e9t\u00e9 cur\u00e9 \u00e0 Lubumbashi (2007-2010).<\/span><\/em><\/address>\n
Depuis septembre 2010, il r\u00e9sidait \u00e0 Bukavu (RDC), en tant que provincial des P\u00e8res Blancs pour l\u2019Afrique centrale.<\/span><\/em><\/address>\n
