Fr. Patrick Chisanga OFM Conventual. He was the provincial of the Conventuals between 2008 and 2012 in Zambia.<\/span><\/em><\/address>\n
While we wish him a fruitful episcopate we also welcome back our Mike<\/a> with warm hands. It has been a long road! Welcome back Mike and congratulations!<\/span><\/em><\/address>\n

Pope appoints Fr Chisanga Mansa bishop<\/span><\/a><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/address>\n

POPE Francis has appointed Fr Patrick Chisanga as the new bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Mansa.<\/i>
\nAccording to Zambia Episcopal Conference spokesperson Fr Paul Samasumo, Fr Chisanga was a Franciscan priest of a religious congregation within the Catholic Church known as the Order of Friars Minor Conventual.<\/i><\/span><\/address>\n
“Fr Chisanga is currently a lecturer of Psychology at St Bonaventure College in Lusaka’s Makeni township. The Diocese of Mansa has had no substantive Bishop since the retirement of Bishop Aaron Chisha on 15 January 2009. Fr Michael Merizzi, a missionary priest of the White Fathers, has been the Apostolic Administrator. Fr Merizzi will continue to be in charge of the Diocese of Mansa until the Bishop-elect, Fr Chisanga, is ordained as Bishop of Mansa, on a date to be announced,” he stated.<\/i><\/span><\/address>\n
He stated that Fr Chisanga was born on the Copperbelt in Kamuchanga, Mufulira on May 16, 1971 and completed his secondary school education at the minor seminary of Ndola Diocese in 1990.<\/i>
\nAfter school, he joined the Order of Friars Minor Conventual and upon completion of training as a Franciscan student studying philosophy and theology, Fr Chisanga was ordained a priest on June 27, 1999 in Ndola.<\/i><\/span><\/address>\n
In 2006, Fr Chisanga obtained a doctoral degree in clinical psychology at the Gregorian University in Rome, Italy.<\/i><\/span><\/address>\n
Since his ordination as a priest, Fr Chisanga has served the Church in various capacities as a parish priest, director of formation for the Franciscans, in charge of the Franciscans here in Zambia and as a senior lecturer of Psychology at St Bonaventure College.<\/i><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/address>\n

Le nouvel Ev\u00eaque est n\u00e9 le 16 mai 1971 \u00e0 Kamuchanga, dans le Dioc\u00e8se de Ndola. Une fois achev\u00e9s l\u2019\u00e9cole primaire \u00e0 Buyantanshi et le coll\u00e8ge, \u00e0 Mufulira – Ndola, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 admis au Petit S\u00e9minaire de Ndola. En 1990, il est entr\u00e9 comme Postulant au sein de l\u2019Ordre des Fr\u00e8res mineurs conventuels. Il a effectu\u00e9 son Noviciat \u00e0 Solwezi et a \u00e9mis ses v\u0153ux temporaires en 1992. Apr\u00e8s avoir achev\u00e9 ses \u00e9tudes de Philosophie et de Th\u00e9ologie, il a \u00e9mis ses voeux perp\u00e9tuels \u00e0 Nairobi en 1998. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 ordonn\u00e9 pr\u00eatre le 27 juin 1999.<\/i><\/i><\/span><\/address>\n
Apr\u00e8s son ordination sacerdotale, il a exerc\u00e9 les minist\u00e8res suivants : 1999-2001 : Cur\u00e9 de Saints Michel et No\u00e9 \u00e0 Kitwe, 2001-2002 : Vice-gardien et formateur au Coll\u00e8ge Bonaventure de Regina Pacis \u00e0 Chawama-Lusaka, 2002-2006 : Etudes sup\u00e9rieures en Psychologie \u00e0 Rome pr\u00e8s l\u2019Universit\u00e9 pontificale gr\u00e9gorienne, 2006-2008 : Gardien et Directeur de la formation des \u00e9tudiants en Th\u00e9ologie pr\u00e8s le Makeny Friary de Lusaka, simultan\u00e9ment, enseignant de Psychologie au Coll\u00e8ge Bonaventure de Lusaka, 2008-2012 : Ministre provincial des Fr\u00e8res mineurs conventuels de la Province de Zambie et Malawi.
