The sector of Mozambique was the only one capable of pulling off something in the line of the bus tour we had envisaged at the initial stage of the campaign. A minibus set off from Beira on 29<sup>th<\/sup> August and travelled to Tete, the boom town along the Zambezi River, picking up some people from our parishes of Dombe and Sussundenga. A two day awareness event was organised in Tete and the same happened in Chimoio a week later. Hundreds of people took part. The grand finale took place in Beira, at the centre of Nazar\u00e9, from 12<sup>th<\/sup> to 15<sup>th<\/sup> September. Para al\u00e9m dos religiosos, participam no encontro oficiais da pol\u00edcia, da procuradoria da rep\u00fablica e representantes de diversas organiza\u00e7\u00f5es da sociedade civil.<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color:#000000;\"> \u201dN\u00e3o \u00e0 escravatura\u201d, \u00e9 uma campanha que decorre desde o in\u00edcio do ano, em 22 pa\u00edses africanos onde a congrega\u00e7\u00e3o cat\u00f3lica \u201cMission\u00e1rios de \u00c1frica\u201d, tamb\u00e9m conhecida por \u201cPadres Brancos\u201d, est\u00e1 presente.<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color:#000000;\"> Em Mo\u00e7ambique, e na zona centro do pa\u00eds, os religiosos j\u00e1 promoveram diversas actividades nas prov\u00edncias de Tete e Manica, e, de hoje at\u00e9 domingo, v\u00e3o reunir-se num centro, em Inham\u00edzua, periferia da cidade costeira da Beira. Um encontro de reflex\u00e3o onde se falar\u00e1 do tr\u00e1fico de seres humanos.<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color:#000000;\"> Com a presente campanha, os Mission\u00e1rios de \u00c1frica pretendem tamb\u00e9m celebrar os 125 anos da campanha lan\u00e7ada pelo seu fundador, o cardeal Charles Lavengerie, para a aboli\u00e7\u00e3o da escravatura em \u00c1frica.<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color:#000000;\"> Fundada em 1868, a congrega\u00e7\u00e3o \u201cMission\u00e1rios de \u00c1frica\u201d estabeleceu-se em Mo\u00e7ambique em 1946 nas prov\u00edncias centrais de Manica e Sofala onde, para al\u00e9m da sua miss\u00e3o evang\u00e9lica, tem contribu\u00eddo para a forma\u00e7\u00e3o de l\u00edderes religiosos sobre a doutrina social da Igreja, justi\u00e7a e paz, preserva\u00e7\u00e3o e protec\u00e7\u00e3o do meio ambiente, bem como no di\u00e1logo inter-religioso.<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color:#000000;\"> N\u00e3o obstante o encontro da Beira marcar o encerramento da campanha \u201cquebremos as correntes\u201d, as ac\u00e7\u00f5es de preven\u00e7\u00e3o e sensibiliza\u00e7\u00e3o n\u00e3o v\u00e3o parar tal como referiu \u00e0 Voz da Am\u00e9rica, o Padre Hugo Seenan, um dos organizadores do encontro de reflex\u00e3o sobre o fen\u00f3meno de tr\u00e1fico de seres humanos que iniciou esta quinta-feira e termina domingo, em Inham\u00edzua, arredores da cidade da Beira.<\/span><\/em><\/address>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Beira, 15th September 2013 As I am writing these lines, one of the major events organised at the level of SAP to mark the 125th anniversary of Lavigerie\u2019s Antislavery campaign, has just come to an end.
