Chris came to Zambia as an Associate member of our Society and stayed on after his contract. Dioscoro Malugao, on behalf of the Missionaries of Africa, attended the requiem Mass at St. Ignatius. Chris&#8217;s body was cremated and his brother took the ashes back to USA.<\/address>\n<address style=\"text-align:justify;\">May he rest in perfect peace.<\/address>\n<address style=\"text-align:justify;\"><b><i>Christopher Chileshe, M.Afr<\/i><\/b><\/address>\n<p><b><a title=\"USAID\" href=\"http:\/\/www.usaid.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2336 alignleft\" alt=\"USAID\" src=\"http:\/\/mafrsouthernafrica.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/07\/usaid1.jpg?resize=384%2C113\" width=\"384\" height=\"113\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mafrsaprovince.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/usaid1.jpg?w=918&amp;ssl=1 918w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mafrsaprovince.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/usaid1.jpg?resize=300%2C89&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mafrsaprovince.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/usaid1.jpg?resize=768%2C227&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mafrsaprovince.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/usaid1.jpg?resize=900%2C266&amp;ssl=1 900w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 384px) 100vw, 384px\" \/><\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\"><b>Death of Mr. Christopher Mahoney, USAID\/Zambia Supervisory Development Outreach and Communications Advisor<\/b><\/p>\n<address style=\"text-align:justify;\">Office of Origin: USAID\/AFR<\/address>\n<address style=\"text-align:justify;\">Date of Announcement: June 27, 2013<\/address>\n<address style=\"text-align:justify;\">It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Mr. Christopher Paul Mahoney.\u00a0 Mr. Mahoney joined USAID in August 2008 as the Supervisory Development Outreach and Communications Officer.\u00a0\u00a0Mr. Mahoney passed away early Sunday, June 23, 2013, of a severe asthma attack.\u00a0<\/address>\n<address style=\"text-align:justify;\">Mr. Mahoney arrived in Zambia as a Catholic Missionary in 1989 and worked as a studio manager for the Catholic Secretariat Communications Department.\u00a0 He successfully built his career in Zambia, owning multiple media and production companies.\u00a0\u00a0As an expert in communications and a member of the USAID\/Zambia senior staff, Mr. Mahoney spent the past five years expanding the Mission&#8217;s development outreach operations, training and mentoring new staff and serving as an interagency leader in public affairs.\u00a0\u00a0Mr. Mahoney was often the go-to person for high-level visits to Lusaka, most recently taking a lead in former President George W. Bush\u2019s visit to Zambia in November, 2011.<\/address>\n<address style=\"text-align:justify;\">Mr. Mahoney\u2019s strong faith, passion for Africa and love of family were evident in his daily life.\u00a0 Condolence messages from colleagues worldwide are testament to his positive nature and outgoing personality.\u00a0 A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2013, at 3:00pm Zambia time at Saint Ignatius Catholic Church in Lusaka.\u00a0 Mr. Mahoney was passionate about fighting gender-based violence.
